Day 14: Friday, August 7, 1998. Day hike in the High Uintas Wilderness, UT.

We chose a day hike in the High Uintas that would allow us to see some lakes and get above 12,000 feet. Getting to the trailhead was somewhat of an adventure. It seems that cattle grazing at high altitudes have the right-of-way. I don't think I've ever gotten such nasty looks from a four-legged animal before. The day hike was rather long, 6 miles to a pass and 6 miles back. Combining the distance with a wrong turn and some rather nasty mosquitoes, we put in a rather full day.
