A trip of this size takes a fair amount of planning and communication, and
this archive section represents most of that work. On the right are links
to some of the pre-trip information provided on this website as well as links to
all the emails I sent to the group. Below is the statement I provided on
the main page of this site, explaining our purpose and intent:

What is condo climbing? I doubt you'll see it at the Olympics or even
the X-Games anytime soon. No, we are not climbing condos. It's all
about the mountains. For most all of us, climbing Colorado's 14ers always
meant a long pack into the wilderness, two or three days of summit attempts, and
a long pack back out. We're not saying that there's anything wrong with
that plan. In fact, from the standpoint of wilderness experience
it's awfully hard to beat.
Okay, we admit it. We're selfish. We're from Iowa and when we get
a chance to climb mountains in Colorado we'd really like to knock off more than
just one or two. There are very few places in Colorado where you get the
opportunity to camp and climb more than two different fourteeners.
Conversely, there are many fourteeners that can be climbed in a day from the
trailhead. There's an idea...how about just day-hiking fourteeners?
No heavy packs, no tents, comfortable beds, daily showers, and bathroom
facilities you don't always have to dig. Sound good? We thought so.
So condo climbing was born. Colorado, being the ski haven that it is,
has many ski condos that can be rented pretty cheap during the summer. So
for about a week our home will be Breckenridge, Colorado, and our climbing
targets will pretty much be anything at a higher elevation within reasonable
driving distance. How many fourteeners will we get? As many as we
can or as few as we want. Some of us are shameless peak-baggers.
Some of us like to get in the out-of-doors and relax. No matter what your
personal goals are, we're all going to have a good time.
