Saturday, August 5, 2000 - Drive to Breckenridge, Colorado

This was probably the only morning that Joe and I woke up before we had
to. Even though we stayed up super late and were exhausted from the climb,
I guess the uncomfortable confines of the front car seats made us decide that
driving would be better than sleeping. So we went.
We got to Breckenridge rather early, so we took the time to check out part of
the town. After finding the condo, we went to the library and found a
cyber-cafe to check our email. Later in the afternoon we went back to the
condos, where we met up with the first group of climbers to arrive in
Breckenridge, the Carlsons. Eventually Rick and Lynne showed up, fresh off
their climb of Mt. Elbert and an attempt on Mt. Yale. Soon other climbers
started showing up and we all started moving into the condos.
The condos were very nice and suited our needs extremely well. I still
think the real way to fully experience the mountains when climbing is in a tent,
but Joe and I had done that and now we were ready to move into a place with
mattresses and showers. And pizza delivery. That was nice, too.
