Raymond Johnson:
math education, mountains, and miscellaneous musings
downclimb.com is a site (loosely) focused on the outdoor and other adventures of Raymond Johnson. As of the fall of 2009, I am happily enrolled as a graduate student at the University of Colorado at Boulder. For the moment I'm pursuing a master's degree in curriculum and instruction with a math education emphasis, but I'm hoping to elevate my pursuit to the Ph. D. track by next fall. This has been a dream of mine ever since I finished my undergrad, and now is the time to make that dream come true.
history
I was born, raised, and educated in Iowa and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in Mathematics (teaching emphasis). After taking many trips to Colorado and the west to hike and climb mountains, I moved to Colorado in 2003. I taught for three years in Florence and in 2006 I moved to Fairplay to teach at South Park High School, where I taught until 2009.
downclimb.com was created in 2001 to give me a permanent place on the web where I could share photos and stories of my outdoor adventures. Combined with my blog at johnson.downclimb.com, I've been trying to record the stories and pictures that chronicle my adventures. In October of 2009 I've added MathEd.net to my online presence as an outlet for professional postings about math, education, and math education.
contact
Ah, the web privacy paradox: giving some people my contact information without giving away all my contact information to everybody. You can send me an email through my Google Profile, which will also show you address and phone information if you are one of my Google Contacts. If you'd rather leave me a voicemail, connect via Google Voice using the widget below.
